UNDERSTAGE FILM NIGHT 'THE END OF THE LINE'
THE END OF THE LINE
imagine a world without fish
This film looks at the effect on our oceans of 60 years of industrial fishing and discusses the way forward towards sustainable seafood.
At a time when the world will need more and more food, we have been squandering the greatest food resource on the planet.
This film gives us in North Queensland a global perspective on the need to protect our local marine resources in the face of the potential collapse of many of the world's ocean ecosystems.
The world's first major documentary about the devastating effect of overfishing premiered at 2009 Sundance Film Festival.
Imagine an ocean without fish. Imagine your meals without seafood. Imagine the global consequences. This is the future for much of the world if we do not stop, think and act.

CHRONIC HAZE ‘UNDER THE HALO’ ALBUM LAUNCH
CHRONIC HAZE, three-piece progressive rock band based in Cairns and Kuranda, recently released their debut 5-track EP, UNDER THE HALO, have been playing together for almost a year. They hold a healthy record of gigs from playing numerous times at The Cairns Bullbar, The Cape York Hotel, Shenanigans, A J Hackett, and the Kuranda Amphitheatre Understage and Mainstage, has played together with high-end FNQ bands such as Zennith and Vikarious, and most recently at the Scorcher Festival in Brisbane.
With songs such as ‘Shatter’ and ‘Waves’, the band knows how to put together an energetic set for the Y-Generation, with effect-driven, but clean guitar work, hard-hitting vocals & lyrics, intricate drumming & bass playing, and some brutal noise-production worthy of partying along to. On the flip side, the crew can also chill out and play a subdued acoustic set with intricate, sweet vocals and some smooth acoustic guitar work. Everything from calm and subdued Pop-Rock to the air-punching Metal!
Supporting CHRONIC HAZE on the night is Cairns band, JOBSTOPPER, a punky, ska, 6/7 piece band with brass section - sax, trombone & trumpet, with Will Carroll, of Oscar’s Big Head reknown.

CHASING THE LOLLYMAN
"As original as it is Aboriginal" Baz McAlister, Time Off
Chasing the Lollyman is a one man show devised and performed by one of Queensland’s most dynamic and funny Indigenous performers, Mark Sheppard. It is a joyous sharing of stories, a celebration of urban Indigenous identity and takes a satirical look at the media and popular culture. Playing a variety of characters and weaving stand up with story telling and a good dose of clown, Mark pokes fun at everything from Neighbours (what would it be like if a Murri family moved into Ramsey St) to politics.
Developed in collaboration with and directed by Liz Skitch, Chasing The Lollyman is a brilliant new comedy brought to you by deBASE productions, makers of the hit comedy, “The Clown from Snowy River”.
Written by Mark Sheppard, Co-devised with Liz Skitch, Set Design Josh McIntosh, Sound Design Ian O’Brien
“An affable and winning actor, Sheppard’s picaresque offering is as original as it is Aboriginal, taking a light - hearted but surprisingly deep and personal look at Murri culture within a sketch framework, drawing on his own childhood in Mareeba among the Muluridgi mob.” Baz McAlister, Time Off Magazine, 2010
